Purr-gatory is a part of the afterlife where the surplus lives of cats reside until their nineth and final life runs it's course. It's implied that what it is veries from cat to cat, as Chester's Eight Lives had an entire waiting room to him/themselves with jazz music and his favorite magazines and puzzles, which life number eight claims it to be "heaven" because of how comfortable it seems. Unfortunately, those who were there before him point out that the real heaven, in comparison, is a loud and obnoxious party club in comparison, and no version of Chester (as of yet) could enjoy or navigate that kind of environment, thus an agreement among the cat souls to haunt Bunnicula for a change so their nineth life wouldn't die of fear like they did.
